Cooking and Nutrition

A fun four week course to introduce children to healthy ingredients and ways to use these ingredients to make delicious and healthy foods. No dairy, gluten, refined sugar or nuts are used in the foods we make and the children can enjoy the food we make during class or take it home. Each child will be awarded a certificate at the end of the four week course.

400 QAR per child for the four week course

Class dates:

Foundation Stage 1 & 2, Years 1 & 2: Thursday (27th April, 4th May, 11th May, 18th May)

Years 3, 4 & 5: Thursday (25th May, 1st June, 8th June, 15th June)

Classes will take place in the cookery room between 1.15-2.15pm.

The course will cover:

Week 1: Energy snack balls

Using seeds, dates and raw cacao powder we will roll balls and decorate them with raw cacao powder. We will also make some strawberry cream balls with coconut cream and fresh strawberries, decorated with coconut shavings. Delicious power snacks for after school.

Week 2: Smoothies and shakes

Using avocado, coconut milk and frozen banana, we will create a delicious alternative to chocolate milkshake. We will also make a super food berry smoothie with some hidden greens.

Week 3: Protein Pancakes

The children will learn how to make pancakes without refined flour – instead we will use banana, coconut flour and eggs, with some added protein ingredients. We will also make a nutritious caramel sauce using coconut oil, honey and coconut milk. The children will be able to enjoy the pancakes with some fruit toppings, goji berries and raw cacao nibs.

Week 4: Sweet potato chocolate brownies and a fun game to finish

The children will use sweet potatoes to make delicious brownies. We will finish with a fun game to re-iterate what we have learned about healthy eating. Certificates will be presented on the final week.
