More about the Board of Governors

The Board works closely with the Headteacher, with all Governors meeting regularly with the Senior Leadership Team between Board meetings to maintain our excellent working relationship and remain informed and involved on key developments at the school.

Board Members

In addition to elected members of the Board and the Headteacher, we are assisted by the guidance and experience provided by non-voting members including the Business Manager, Neil Macfarlane, and the Staff Representative, all of whom add extremely valuable input at each meeting.

Sub-committees

The Board has also formed a number of Sub-Committees that meet regularly between and feed back into the main Board meetings.  The Governors and members of the school senior leadership team who form these Sub-Committees have particular skills which enable them to work through complex matters with due care and attention, and present recommendations to the Board.  This enables us to spend more time on focus areas, whilst at the same time having the full involvement of the Board in decision making.    The Sub-Committees include:

Human Resources Sub-Committee
Najat El Mahdy (Chair), Neil Macfarlane, Sean Sibley,  William McAdam, Janine Al Darwish, Mona Ahmad
Finance and Funding Sub-Committee
Omar Mahmood (Chair), Neil Macfarlane, Fiona Younger, Simon Cory-Wright, Reem Al Khalifa, Sean Sibley, Rhiannon O'Neill
Premises Health and Safety Sub-Committee

All Governors give generously of their time to the Board and work with staff, taking a collegial approach to governance to help the school achieve its vision as an international beacon of excellence in education.
